Security Features in Windows 7:

PC’s security is the main concern while opting for any operating system. Windows 7 is the most secure version of operating system from software giant Microsoft. While transiting from Windows XP to Vista, Microsoft has introduced various new security features. However, in latest Windows 7, Microsoft has further enhanced those security features and introduced various new features as well. The company is also open for user’s feedback to make the security features better and user-friendly.
Here are few features that enhance Microsoft Windows 7 security:

Core System Security: The Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) in Windows 7 offers a strong protection against malicious software and virus attacks. SDL features Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR), Data Execution Prevention (DEP), Kernel Patch Protection, and Mandatory Integrity Levels. ASLR makes it difficult to access the core functions present in the memory. Also DEP saves storage area specifically meant to hold data.

BitLocker Drive Encryption: The BitLocker feature in Windows 7 can not only encrypt the data present in primary system volume but it can also encrypt the data present in USB thumb drives. Today when USB drives are capable of holding various GB of data, the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature has increased the security feature of the operating system.

Security feature in Internet Explorer 8: The new Internet Explorer 8 has a protection tool called SmartScreen which offers anti-phishing and anti-malware URL filtering like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Also, IE8 highlight the actual URL in bold in the address bar.

UAC (User Account Control) – UAC, was first introduced in Vista. It allows firms to deploy the OS without giving administrative right to users. UAC is made more flexible in Windows 7. User can customize the UAC to choose from four different level of protection ranging from “ Always Notify to Never Notify”
